Healthy gums will look pink and firm to the touch. In certain ethnic groups, the gums may be pigmented and will not be completely pink. The gums should however not be red, or swollen or even tender. The gums should rest firmly against the tooth and without visibly receding from the teeth. An unhealthy gum may also show occasional bleeding when probed by a dentist or while brushing your teeth. Gingivitis is a simple inflammation of the gum and can easily be reversible with improved dental hygiene. Longstanding gingivitis will develop into gum disease which is also known as periodontal disease. Prolonged gum disease will eventually lead to loosening of the teeth and eventually tooth loss.
Your teeth are covered by a material called enamel that happens to be the strongest material in our bodies. There are several things that can weaken the enamel such as dental decay also known as cavities. Cavities are often difficult to see with the naked eye. Your dentist will therefore carefully examine each tooth and take x-rays to detect cavities before they can become larger and painful.
A Healthy Smile
A beautiful smile is a healthy smile. Healthy teeth and healthy gums often also reflect good general health and certain health conditions can show signs in the oral cavity. A healthy smile will boost self-confidence and should be a boost for your overall health as well. We at the Smile Factory will examine both your gums and teeth as part of our overall restoration of a healthy smile.
Everyone wants a beautiful SMILE! In my experience as a cosmetic surgeon, many patients seek to improve on their looks with things like breast implants and face lifts, but when they smile their teeth may be crooked or stained. And of course that makes their smile less than perfect. They can afford to get plastic surgery because in the past 15 years more surgeons are offering cosmetic surgery, and many procedures have become simplified. As a result the price to have cosmetic surgery has gone down. Cosmetic dentistry has not caught up with this trend yet and where it still costs several thousands of dollars to enhance one’s smile. Until now.
The Smile Factory’s featured services are intended to be affordable, especially veneers. To many patients the cost of $1500 for one veneer may be affordable. A smile however is never completed with a single veneer. Therefore at The Smile Factory, we strive to build smiles for the cost of a single veneer. In general veneers can be manufactured using a variety of material and we have chosen porcelain because it is durable and more esthetic. Apart from durability and esthetics, our objective is to produce the highest quality veneers that are affordable and convenient to the patient. Thankfully technology in dentistry has evolved over the past few years and we were quick to leverage this technology to deliver better services to our patients. This is obviously a service that does not replace the need to maintain good dental hygiene and regular visits to your regular dentist. Nonetheless, our patients will be thoroughly examined and x-rays taken whenever indicated.
We call our family of veneers U-Smile-Veneers™ because we want you to smile when you get them. These veneers are all custom designed and prepared using state-of-the-art 3D impression and design technology. We currently have two types U-Smile-Veneers™. The U-Smile-Veneers™ ($395 per veneer) are porcelain veneers, affordable, custom-made, and can be completed in one day. The U-Smile-Veneers™ Deluxe ($585 per veneer) are made of a more a superior porcelain, use a more advanced technology, are minimally invasive and can be prepared and delivered in as little as one hour.
Patients looking to refresh their smile may also need a certain amount of tooth alignment. We are introducing the Smile-Align clear aligners to straighten crooked or mis-aligned teeth. Some patients may also need a certain amount of contouring to their gums. This is very helpful to people with what is commonly known as a gummy smile. We use a high-powered laser to shape the gums and expose more of the teeth.
Lastly, we can blend everything together with a variety of convenient tooth whitening programs. We offer take-home tooth whitening kits, custom tray bleaching and in-office bleaching. With this people needn’t get more than the front four teeth veneered and the rest can be whitened to blend everything together.
My passion in medicine and dentistry is as much about the art of medicine as it is about talking to patients. A big part of my job is to educate my patients, and in fact it is probably one of the most important and rewarding aspect of the overall patient encounter. I love doing it, sitting face-to-face with a new patient for the first time, and try to understand their expectations and desires. Then to meet or exceed those expectations. It can sometimes be challenging especially with individuals where English is not their first language. I have listened to my patients and have delivered on those desires. Invariably though, whenever teeth needed to be cosmetically improved, the cost was too prohibitive. Cosmetic dentistry is very expensive. I have known that and have always, in the back of my mind, wished I could change that. People should be able to afford to have plastic surgery AND improve the appearance of their teeth without taking out a second mortgage. Plastic surgery is fairly affordable nowadays. Miami where I do all my plastic surgery, the prices are very affordable, but not dental cosmetic procedures … Until Now!
First let me tell you a bit about myself. I was born in Jordan. This was back in 1960. Lucky for me and my family, my parents were exceptionally westernized, and my dad worked for a Swedish pharmaceutical company. And as he moved up the corporate ladder, we moved and lived in a number of countries. The last move before the company decided to pull us in, was to Beirut Lebanon. We got caught in the middle of their civil war and barely escaped alive. We eventually got transferred to Sweden and that is where I spent the rest of my teenage years and also went to dental school. As early as when I was a pre-teen, I was a tinkerer. At the age of ten, I took apart a telephone to try to understand how voice can be converted to an electric signal. What I was really trying to develop was a speech activated typewriter. At the age of 10 I was unable to solve that mystery but never stopped tinkering. And the idea of coming up with an affordable cosmetic dental service was tinkering in my mind for several years. I currently hold three patent pending inventions and blue prints for several more. I have developed computer programs and designed a number of websites. I find myself often captivated by technology and was therefore quick to notice the technology advancements in dentistry. This, in my opinion and to quote a technology icon of our time, Mr Steve Jobs, is “The Next Big Thing” in dentistry. I am happy to announce that I have succeeded in assembling highly skilled staff that can take advantage of the immense power of technology and create convenient and affordable dental esthetics. The First Big Thing we will be introducing are the U-Smile-Veneers. They are affordable and conveniently performed in one day.
Imagine if you go to the dentist and ask to improve your front teeth, or at least restore it. If you are considering crowns, it will be several thousands dollars for each tooth. Implants, ouch! a few thousand for the implant and a few more for the crown. Then there are the other teeth too to consider. And should you consider veneers, it will cost you at least $1000 or $1500 a tooth. And with all these services, there are multiple appointments first for drilling and preparing the teeth, impressions, lab time etc. You see this is where I think a new bold reform of these services could make a difference.
We call it the U-Smile-Veneers.
